The Dallas Mavericks are out of the playoffs and already starting their summer vacation.

This is a dreadful result for a team that had aspirations of making the Finals just a few months ago.

While the players will be focused on working out and perfecting their games during the offseason, the front office will be coming up with a strategy.

Shams Charania sat down on FanDuel TV to talk about the team’s plans for the months ahead.

The biggest priority is re-signing Kyrie Irving and agreeing to another contract with him.

Even though his addition hasn’t helped the squad yet, they are adamant about getting him back.

Following that, they will look to the trade market and see if they can find a player who is a “forward three who can defend and play at both ends of the floor.”

They will also hold onto their top-ten draft pick and hope they have some luck there.

All in all, Charania said the Mavericks have a “couple assets to play with” but the question remains: can they get good enough to actually compete next season and make a run at the championship?

Even though Luka Doncic recently said he’s happy in Dallas and isn’t going to depart the team, fans are still incredibly nervous.

They would be even more nervous if next season looks anything like this one.

The only good news about being eliminated before the playoffs begin is that it allows Dallas to keep their draft pick and start creating a strong plan for improvement.

The team fought all season long but now the hard work really begins for the Mavericks.
