The Los Angeles Lakers revamped the roster and it paid off big time.
They went from being bottom-feeders to having the second-best defense in the league after the NBA trade deadline, but that wasn’t enough to finish the job.
In most seasons, that supporting cast would’ve meant winning an NBA championship with LeBron James.
But that wasn’t the case anymore, mostly because James cannot be trusted to lead a team night in and night out at age 38.
That’s why Ric Bucher believes his days as a dominant play are over.

Bucher cited that it has happened to every other legendary player, and it has nothing to do with James or is not a knock on him by any means.
The analyst remembered the days when you could simply give LeBron pretty much any supporting cast and he’d figure out a way to win, and that’s not the case anymore.
This is arguably the best supporting cast he’s had — although he only had one star teammate instead of two — yet he was gassed out at the end of the season.
James still had glimpses of greatness and even took over in the first half of that close-out game vs. the Denver Nuggets, but he was exhausted in the second half.
All great things come to an end, and James’ career has been better, longer, and more accomplished than arguably any other in the history of this game.
But Father Time spares no victim, and we’re talking about a 38-year-old man.
