After years of heated exchanges and an apparent dislike for one another, Golden State Warriors star Chris Paul and veteran referee Scott Foster finally had an ugly on-court confrontation that made headlines during this 2023-24 NBA season.
Clearly, this relationship between Paul and Foster can’t be fixed at this point, as neither side seems to have any interest in making amends.
Even though things have been taken to another level between Foster and Paul, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has apparently seen enough and wants the nonsense to stop between these two.
Silver put it simply on SiriusXM NBA Radio that these two do not have to be friends, but they are both professionals who need to do their jobs, via NBACentral.
“[Chris Paul and NBA Referee Scott Foster] don’t have to be friends but you both have to go out and do your jobs.”

It’s pretty wild that things have gotten so bad between Paul and Foster that the NBA Commissioner has to step in and tell them to do their jobs at this point.
The real question is whether they will behave and when will be the next time we see Foster officiating a Warriors game with Paul playing in that game.
The league might be better off avoiding this scenario, as every call that Foster makes or doesn’t make will be scrutinized, and another dust-up on the court between the two might start to get ugly.
Only time will tell how things end between Foster and Paul and if these two can put their problems aside and get back to basketball being played and officiated the right way.
