The Memphis Grizzlies weren’t supposed to be this good this fast.
Ja Morant’s acquisition put them way ahead of schedule as they transitioned from the “Grit-and-Grind” era.
This Grizzlies squad has a chance to be special and a perennial playoff contender if they manage to keep this core together.
That’s why the front office wants to continue building around their current stars and could be quite aggressive in their pursuit of more talent in the offseason if they lose in the first round to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Shams Charania.
“They wanna build around this young group of guys that they have… They’ve got what it takes to be aggressive in the marketplace, we’ll see if they wanna be that way”@ShamsCharania on what the #Grizzlies might do if they lose this series #RunItBack #BigMemphis pic.twitter.com/RaV6C9fNCf

The Grizzlies have an interesting set of assets they could use to try and get another young star, with Charania citing they were interested in trading for Mikal Bridges this season.
The Brooklyn Nets might not look to move on from their potential franchise cornerstone, but the Grizzlies could make an offer they cannot refuse.
Whatever the case, Taylor Jenkins’ squad may only need more time to grow and be more mature above all things, as they’ve done a lot of talking throughout the season, and that’s backfired more often than not, especially in the playoffs.
The Grizzlies aren’t short on talent by any means, and most of their players still have their best basketball ahead of them.
So, even if they’re not exactly popular or likable among most fans right now, they could still be a very fun team to watch for years to come if they manage to keep the band together for a little longer.
