The Oklahoma City Thunder have surged this season and are currently the third seed in the Western Conference.
With how tight the top three teams are, there is a chance that the Thunder could end this season as the best seed in their conference, which would be a major accomplishment for this youthful squad.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been a key part of the team’s success but he has been battling a quad injury and has missed several games.
Speaking on “Run It Back,” Shams Charania gave a minor but important update on the Thunder superstar.
Saying that he doesn’t sense “great concern” within the team about Gilgeous-Alexander’s injury, Charania also stated, “But this is the end of the season, they want to make sure [he] is right for the playoffs.”

The MVP contender last played for the Thunder on March 31 when they battled and barely beat the New York Knicks.
Since then, he has remained on the sidelines but there has been hope he will be back as soon as possible.
The Thunder will have to weigh their options with Gilgeous-Alexander: they don’t want to rush his return but they also don’t want to play too many games without him because of how important he is.
The team has seven more games in the regular season and some of them will be quite difficult.
For example, they still have to play the Sacramento Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, and Dallas Mavericks.
The team can win without Gilgeous-Alexander but obviously, that task becomes much tougher when he’s not on the court.
These last few games could decide which team is the top in the West so the Thunder want their star player back, but only if he’s truly ready and prepared for a hopefully long postseason.
