The Cleveland Cavaliers are a team that might be a piece or two away from becoming a legitimate title contender in the Eastern Conference, as this team, led by superstar guard Donovan Mitchell, is as talented as any in the league right now.
That said, this summer will be important for the Cavaliers as they have to figure out what pieces to bring in to complement Mitchell and the rest of the squad ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, one target for the Cavaliers could be Georges Niang, the kind of knockdown shooter that might flourish in Cleveland.
Georges Niang is among the Cavaliers top targets when free agency opens, sources told @SInow. Niang, a 40-plus percent three-point shooter, is coming off a solid year with Philadelphia.

After the disappointing first-round loss to the New York Knicks in the NBA playoffs, it became clear this team is not good enough to compete as currently constructed, and despite the obvious talent on the squad, changes need to be made.
Adding Niang into the mix in Cleveland would be a solid move for the franchise as they try to take another step toward being a dominant force in the Eastern Conference.
Last season, Niang averaged 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game while impressively shooting 44.2% from the floor and 40.1% from beyond the arc.
Niang isn’t a huge game-changer for the Cavaliers, but he could prove to be a missing piece and help spread the floor, which will benefit Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley greatly moving forward.
It’ll be interesting to see what moves Cleveland makes this summer and if they can really move the needled ahead of next season.
