The Detroit Pistons are in the market for a new head coach.
One reason is that they have not been competitive for many years.
The last time the Pistons made the playoffs was the 2018-19 season, and they lost in the first round.
They have not made it out of the first round of the playoffs since the 2007-08 season.
Detroit has been stuck in irrelevancy for far too long.
It is time for them to be competitive again.
This offseason it all starts with them finding the right head coach.
Having the right man calling the shots can turn a team around in one season.
We saw that this season in Sacramento with Mike Brown leading the Kings to the playoffs.
One name the Pistons are interested in is former UConn head coach Kevin Ollie.
According to Shams Charania, the Pistons have scheduled an interview with Ollie for their head coaching position.
The Detroit Pistons will interview former University of Connecticut coach and 13-year NBA veteran Kevin Ollie for their head coaching job, sources tell me and @JLEdwardsIII. Ollie guided UConn to the 2014 NCAA championship and recently finished coaching stint at Overtime Elite.

Ollie spent 13 seasons in the NBA, and he understands how to coach young players.
He did just that at UConn.
Detroit has plenty of young players in their own right and if Ollie gets the job he will be tasked with developing them.
Not only do the Pistons need to find the right head coach, but they need better players.
Once again the Pistons are expected to be selecting in the top five.
They need another star player to pair add to a group with Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, and Jaden Ivey.
This is a big offseason for the Pistons and they cannot afford to mess it up.
