After seemingly endless speculation and numerous trade rumors, the Portland Trail Blazers and superstar guard Damian Lillard seem to be on the same page regarding keeping their relationship intact moving forward.
All signs had pointed to a blockbuster trade being on the horizon, with Lillard being linked to teams like the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat, but that no longer seems to be the case, as the team will prioritize putting more talent around him and incoming rookie Scoot Henderson.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski gave an update on the state of the Blazers franchise and what the team intends to do moving forward, via Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports.
Trail Blazers update via @wojespn:
– Nothing has changed in regards to Damian Lillard potentially wanting out of Portland.
– Blazers will look to re-sign Jerami Grant.
– Portland will be very active in trade market over next few weeks to add win-now pieces around Lillard.

Although the Blazers appear intent on bringing in more talent, Portland doesn’t have a lot of trade assets, which could make that quite tricky ahead of and during NBA free agency.
However, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that the Blazers find the right moves to make and, as a result, pave the way for a promising future for the Lillard-Scoot duo in Portland.
The Blazers will definitely be a team to watch as the league heads in free agency this weekend, with the team being as active as Wojnarowski suggests they will be in order to make Lillard happy with the situation ahead of next season.
Only time will tell if the Blazers brass can make something happen this summer to upgrade the roster, or trade rumors will resume before the 2023-24 NBA season gets underway in a few months.
