NBA Legend Has Strong Response To Jalen Brunson Critique

The game of basketball has evolved over the decades, but one thing which is still a pretty huge requirement to be a superstar in the league is height.

Usually, the players who are a couple of inches above 6-feet tall may become perennial All-Stars, but that’s the extent of it.

More often than not, teams that have such players as their primary superstar never end up winning the NBA Championship.

Keeping that in mind, Las Vegas Aces head coach Becky Hammon recently pointed out that the Knicks cannot win an NBA title if they keep Jalen Brunson as their primary superstar, as he is 6-foot-2.

While Hammon was pretty much berated by the Knicks fanbase, NBA legend Isiah Thomas backed up her comments via his official Twitter handle.

“Sadly this game historically does favor the stronger athletes and when smaller people have success it is more impressive in my opinion,” Thomas wrote.

Facts @BeckyHammon sadly this game historically does favor the Taller, stronger athlete and when smaller sized people have success it is more impressive in my opinion. The 1A player has historically been taller players than myself or Steph we are the outliers. https://t.co/JpXpKdJu6R

Thomas is one of the most successful players of his generation, and he was just 6-foot-1, but even the Detroit Pistons legend agreed that the game of basketball favors tall players.

There are a few outliers to it, such as Thomas and Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, but that’s pretty much it.

Thomas did win two NBA Championships during his career, along with a plethora of accolades, but even he agreed with Hammon’s comments.

As for Brunson, he is currently averaging 25.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game this season and has helped the Knicks stay as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 16-11 record.

But not many think of the Knicks as one of the favorites to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy in the summer of 2024.
