The third and final week of NFL preseason games continued on Friday, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the Miami Dolphins in one of the two afternoon games.
After somewhat unexpectedly winning the NFC South and reaching the divisional round of the playoffs last year, the Buccaneers are hoping to build on that success this fall and winter.
Newly inducted Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and NBA great Vince Carter was on hand for Friday’s Buccaneers-Dolphins contest, per the Bucs’ official Twitter account.

Carter grew up in nearby Daytona Beach, and he took the NBA by storm when he entered the league for the 1999 season.
He quickly became one of the best and most creative in-game dunkers in basketball history, and he memorably won the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest while showing off his amazing hops.
While Carter’s skills and production started to significantly erode in the late 2000s, partly due to his recurring injuries, he was a legitimate superstar in his prime, and he made the All-Star team in eight straight seasons.
He actually has some experience on the gridiron — he was a quarterback during his freshman year at Mainland High School before a broken wrist derailed his football career.
With Baker Mayfield finally tapping into his vast potential in 2023, Tampa Bay is now a team that has to be taken seriously, especially after their impressive performance in the wild-card round of last year’s playoffs.
There, they trounced the Philadelphia Eagles 32-9, and in the next round, they were relatively competitive against the Detroit Lions before losing by eight points.
