Back in February, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors battled WNBA superstar Sabrina Ionescu in a highly-anticipated three-point contest during All-Star weekend.

Curry barely defeated Ionescu during the competition and the reviews for both stars were glowing.

The NBA heard the favorable reaction and now the league is contemplating another competition like it in the future.

According to Shams Charania on “Run It Back,” another Curry versus Ionescu three-point contest is likely at next year’s All-Star Game.

Additionally, Klay Thompson and basketball phenom Caitlin Clark might join, turning the event into a two-versus-two showdown.

“At this point Stephen Curry versus Sabrina Ionescu is very likely for next year…I’m told with Caitlin Clark and potentially Klay Thompson to make it 2v2.”@ShamsCharania updates on next years #NBA All Star

It’s obvious that the NBA really liked the three-point contest between these two stars and they want more.

Adding Thompson and Clark would likely draw even more attention and it makes a lot of sense because the All-Star Game will be held in the Bay Area in 2025, meaning Thompson will already be in attendance if he’s still a member of the Warriors.

Plus, he obviously has great chemistry with Curry, his longtime Splash Brother.

If this goes well, perhaps the NBA will continue to grow the competition year after year.

In a few seasons, it might be a five-on-five game between the best players of the NBA and the best of the WNBA.

The league is intent on enhancing All-Star weekend in many ways, as they have accepted the fact that there is room for improvement.

They went back to basics this year and that was greatly appreciated by fans but the response to the game itself was still lukewarm.

That means Adam Silver and his staff will keep finding ways to add more excitement.

Curry came out ahead in this year’s three-point battle but will he be able to do it again next year?

And will he be competing by himself?
