The New York Knicks’ season came to a disappointing end, all things considered.
Tom Thibodeau’s team closed out the regular season with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, and they seemed poised to challenge the Boston Celtics for a spot in the NBA Finals.
Eventually, a string of injuries prevented them from fulfilling their potential.
However, it still showed them that they were more than ready to compete at the highest level; they just needed to make a move or two.
And a move they made.
Trading for Mikal Bridges could have huge implications for the organization, not only because of his chemistry and relationship with Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart but also because of his actual impact on the court.
According to ESPN BET, the Knicks now have the fifth-best odds to win the NBA championship next season, with the odds shifting from +1600 to +1000 upon hearing the news of the trade.

The Knicks will have Mitchell Robinson and Julius Randle back to full strength next season.
They could also reportedly re-sign OG Anunoby to a big contract.
Jalen Brunson has already proven to be one of the best guards in the league, and they have two solid foundational role players in Hart and DiVincenzo.
They’ve now added a durable guy who can score and play elite defense.
And while it won’t be easy to keep the Celtics away from the throne, they definitely have a better chance to do so now than they did a couple of days ago.
