Over the course of the NBA offseason, few have been more vocal on social media than Kai Jones of the Charlotte Hornets, who has said a bunch of wild things on his Twitter account.

On Monday, Jones took it to another level entirely by claiming that he had told the Hornets brass that he’d like to be traded and is currently waiting to be moved.

Even though Jones came out publicly with the trade demand on Twitter, no one knows for sure if it is real, as he has made some strange statements as of late, which have led to some wondering about his mental health.

After Jones announced the trade request, which still has not been confirmed by Shams Charania of The Athletic or ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Terrence Ross couldn’t help but ask whether Jones is in the right place mentally.

Jones quickly responded by saying he is the greatest basketball player of all time and to check his highlights, which led to Ross confirming his suspicions via Legion Hoops.

The Hornets selected Jones out of the University of Texas with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, and he has not lived up to expectations by any means over the past two years in Charlotte.

After getting a bump in minutes last year, Jones didn’t show much improvement, averaging 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while 55.8% from the floor and 21.1% from deep in 46 games for the Hornets.

If Jones isn’t messing around, the Hornets will likely try to accommodate his trade request, but it’s unlikely they’ll get much in return for his services.
