Coming into the 2023-24 NBA season, the Oklahoma City Thunder were considered to be a talented young team on the rise in the league, but many believed this young squad was still a few years away from being a force to be reckoned with, let alone a legitimate title contender.

Although the team had been written off for being too young and inexperienced before last season, the Thunder proved everyone wrong, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander becoming an NBA MVP candidate and Oklahoma City dominating the competition in the Western Conference from start to finish.

The Thunder seem to be the example of what a team in the modern can look like when built from the ground up and makes smart moves in trades as well as the NBA Draft, as this team appears to be set up for success for years to come.

Despite falling short against the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the NBA playoffs, the Thunder have a bright future and have seen their championship odds improve drastically from last year to now, according to ESPN BET.

As long as this team can stay healthy and general manager Sam Presti continues to make all the right moves, the Thunder could be a championship contender in the West for the foreseeable future, with Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren leading the way.

Although the competition in the West is more competitive than it has been in recent memory, Oklahoma City might have what it takes to endure and prevail in the very near future.
