One former NBA employee just guaranteed that they will never be re-hired.

The league’s official Facebook page was allegedly hacked by a former employee who was very unhappy with the way they were treated.

Using the page as a place to air their grievances, they took direct aim at Adam Silver and the long hours and strain the job demanded.

The post, which was quickly taken down, read:

“How do I log out of this? Haven’t worked here in weeks. Anyway, the NBA overextends it’s social media employees greatly to the detriment of their health and social lives for a salary of less than $50k annually after taxes. I worked 14 hour shifts without breaks at times. Shoutout Adam Silver. We don’t get health insurance until 90 days on the job! That’s silly isn’t it? Glad I resigned, no need for a job to get in the way of your happiness. Donate to mental health causes.”

Even though the NBA was quick to act and delete the post, screenshots were making the rounds on social media Monday, shared by ClutchPoints, NBACentral, and many other outlets.

This is the sort of headache that the NBA tries hard to avoid.

It’s embarrassing for a number of reasons.

It’s never good when a company’s official social media accounts are hacked.

That’s especially true when it’s done in a manner like this: an employee who was never logged out of the account.

But the accusations made by the former NBA worker are quite severe.

14-hour shifts and a lack of health insurance are hard to defend.

If these claims are true, the NBA could be under pressure to change how it treats its employees.

Ironically, the biggest NBA story of the last few weeks has been about another disgruntled employee: James Harden of the Philadelphia 76ers.

His very public spat with Sixers president Dary Morey has led to an investigation by the league.

Will the post from this former NBA employee lead to a similar investigation?
