The Brooklyn Nets are planning for a bright future, even if it might take a while to get there.
On Wednesday morning, Michael Scotto reported that the Nets have added Drew Nicholas to their scouting department.
Nicholas is no stranger to scouting and spent the last two years as Director of Scouting for the Denver Nuggets.
He also assisted Maryland with winning the NCAA championship in 2002 and is from the New York area.
He is coming back home to help the Nets get back on track and pave a path to the future.

The Nets made a few adjustments recently and it looked like they were posing themselves to be a rebuilding project.
Most fans agree that it’ll be some time before they are back in playoff contention.
But they have acquired a number of high-ranking draft picks, which means they will be able to select well in future drafts.
That is when Nicholas can help.
As part of the scouting department, he will be tasked with finding the next big things in the league.
He will tour the country, visit schools and G League teams, and even head overseas to locate players who could benefit the Nets in the years ahead.
Obviously, it’s a big job but it’s also the start of a long process for the Nets.
Nicholas has experience scouting for one of the best teams in the league, the Nuggets, so this should give Nets fans something to be excited about.
But they should also recognize that hiring Nicholas is part of a long-term plan that may take time to deliver.
