Nets Make A Big Announcement About Vince Carter

Younger NBA fans might not remember how much of a problem Vince Carter was in his prime.

On top of being the greatest in-game dunker this game has ever seen, Carter put the Toronto Raptors on the map and was one of the main ones responsible for the growth of this sport in Canada.

Then, he was even better when he headed to the (then) New Jersey Nets.

He had the best years of his career with the Nets, and while he wasn’t able to lead them to an NBA championship, he went down as one of the greatest players in franchise history.

That’s why, upon hearing the news of his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, it only made sense that they decided to honor him as well by retiring his jersey.

15 forever.

No one will ever wear Vince’s No. 15 again for the franchise, and that’s a well-deserved honor.

He spent 22 years in the league and was the only player to be featured in four decades (1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s).

Carter will now join the likes of Jason Kidd (No. 5), Drazen Petrovic (No. 3), John Williamson (No. 23), Bill Melchionni (No. 25), Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving (No. 32), and Buck Williams (No. 52).

Notably, none of the aforementioned players ever played in Brooklyn; they’re all from the New Jersey days.
