The Brooklyn Nets lost the dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving last season as the two superstars demanded trades mid-season.
With the duo gone, Ben Simmons is essentially left with the responsibility to be the leader of the Nets in the 2023-24 NBA season.
While Simmons promised to reach an All-Star level of play this season, so far, he has averaged 6.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.
Despite that, Simmons has been a key player for the Nets this season.
But the Nets will be playing without Simmons for their matchup tonight against the Boston Celtics, as revealed by Tim Bontemps on Twitter.

As mentioned in the above tweet, Simmons will be sidelined due to hip soreness.
Considering the Celtics are currently the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 5-2 record to start the season, the Nets will undoubtedly miss Simmons’ contributions in the game.
Sure, Simmons is not averaging close to All-Star level scoring numbers, but his rebounds and assists are a key part of the Nets’ gameplan on any given night.
As of now, the Nets have managed to stay exactly at the .500 mark, as they are currently 4-4 and hold the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Will the Nets pull off an upset by defeating the mighty Celtics, or will the franchise plummet below the .500 mark?
