Personnel-wise, there weren’t a lot of things the Denver Broncos could do to be better this season.
Last year’s struggles were mostly due to poor coaching and underperforming, not because the team didn’t have the talent or the players to perform at the highest level.
And now that they’ve lured a star from a divisional rival in Frank Clark, the former Kansas City Chiefs stalwart showed his belief and faith in the team’s ability to turn things around right away:
“You can say what you want about their record, but if you know football, if you understand it, that’s the type of team that can turn it around in a heartbeat,” Clark said on the Undefined with Josina Anderson podcast. “I’ve seen it and I know it. They just need to add a few pieces to get the job done, and I feel like they’re doing the right thing adding me.”

Clark is joining one of the best defenses in the game, at least on paper.
He’s a defensive unit of his own, logging 58.5 career sacks, 23.5 of those during his four seasons with their divisional rivals.
Zach Allen and Randy Gregory round up their pass-rush, while Patrick Surtain II does his thing in the secondary defense.
Truth be told, the Broncos’ defense was much better than most metrics from last season show.
They constantly put the team in a position to win games, yet Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson were never on the same page.
The Broncos gave up just 17 points per game but they still finished the season with a subpar 5-12 record.
Clark’s addition will only make them better defensively, and there’s simply no way their defense fares any worse, especially after hiring Sean Payton.
The Broncos should be able to bounce back in a big way after being perhaps the most disappointing team in the league last season, and Clark would’ve never joined them if he didn’t think they had what it takes to do something special.
