The New York Mets introduced their new manager, Carlos Mendoza, to the world this week.
He is a young skipper full of dreams and fresh ideas, ready to take the Mets back to where they were in 2022: the postseason.
With the wealthiest owner in MLB in Steven Cohen, a top baseball executive in David Stearns, and some of the best players in the league, Mendoza knows what the fans want: to win.
Former manager Buck Showalter won in the 2022 regular season, and retained his position heading into 2023.
He couldn’t consistently win this season, and lost his job.
Expectations, therefore, are high in Queens, and Mendoza knows it.
“I can’t wait. I know I’m ready, I know I’m prepared. I know how much the fans want to win, and that’s what we’re here for,” SNY tweeted, quoting the new manager.

Mendoza was said to have had really good interviews besides the one with the Mets, highlighting his baseball IQ and readiness.
The Mets ended up securing his services with a nice contract, and he will have his first crack at managing an MLB team.
He played minor league ball for 13 seasons and entered the New York Yankees system as a coach in 2009.
He managed some of their minor league teams, worked as an infield instructor, and was named bench coach in November 2019, working hand in hand with manager Aaron Boone for four seasons.
He knows New York fans very well and is aware that they expect the team to, at the very least, make the playoffs.
In the Mets, Mendoza will have a very good structure to back him, giving him a good chance of succeeding.
