New Seahawks QB Reacts After Joining The Team

Over the last two seasons, Geno Smith has done surprisingly well for the Seattle Seahawks after they traded away franchise quarterback Russell Wilson in 2022.

Smith led the NFL in completion percentage in 2022, and last season, he was named to the Pro Bowl for the second straight year.

But the Seahawks made a surprising move this offseason by trading for promising QB Sam Howell, and on Thursday, they added some depth behind Smith and Howell by signing P.J. Walker.

Walker took to Twitter to thank them for the opportunity.

Extremely Thankful for this opportunity Thank You ! @Seahawks

Walker, who went undrafted out of Temple University in 2016, has played four seasons in the NFL, and he spent last season with the Cleveland Browns.

With the Browns suffering through a rash of injuries to key players, including starting QB Deshaun Watson, Walker appeared in six games and threw for 674 yards and one touchdown, although he also had five interceptions.

Quarterback depth is becoming increasingly important in the NFL, especially given the number of signal-callers who have suffered significant or major injuries over the last couple of years.

Walker will be third on Seattle’s depth chart, and they therefore look sufficiently stocked to make a run at a playoff spot in the NFC this coming season.

They went 9-8 last year, but they barely missed the postseason cut, and they seem to have the type of team that can at least compete for a playoff spot this coming season.

Seattle has a solid wide receiver duo in Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, while Kenneth Walker III is a young, productive and promising running back.
