The post-Ben Roethlisberger era is well underway for the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the team moving forward with second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett as their new face of the franchise and leader under center.
Although Pickett’s rookie season left something to be desired, as he was still a bit rough around the edges once the year was over, the Steelers appear confident that he is the right man for the job to lead this team moving forward.
Along with the team buying in on Pickett’s future in Pittsburgh, Steelers newcomer Allen Robinson has been impressed with what he’s seen from the 25-year-old thus far, saying the following about his new teammate via The Rich Eisen Show.
“He’s a leader. He’s the guy who has great command.”

A second-year player taking over for a legend already proving to be a leader and a respected voice among his teammates strongly indicates that Pickett has a bright future in Pittsburgh.
For one, winning over head coach Mike Tomlin is no easy task, and he seems to have already done that, but winning over his teammates is another thing and a great start ahead of the 2023 NFL season.
Fortunately for the Steelers, the franchise won’t be feeling the pressure to succeed right away with Pickett under center, and the team can take advantage of not being in the spotlight in the AFC North, which will go to the new-look Baltimore Ravens and title-contending Cincinnati Bengals.
Pittsburgh has a chance to thrive and build moving forward while potentially having a bright future on the horizon, with Pickett leading the way for the storied franchise.
