Even if you hate the Los Angeles Lakers, and even if you were never a fan of his game, there’s simply no way a true basketball fan could’ve hated Kobe Bryant.

Perhaps you weren’t a fan of his style or play or didn’t like his personality, but there wasn’t a single hoop-head on Earth who wouldn’t have done anything to have a player like him on his team.

No one instilled more fear in an opponent’s heart; no one inspired more respect on a basketball court.

That’s why it’s only natural to see the basketball mecca paying tribute to one of the greatest to ever do it, with some iconic Kobe Bryant pictures lighting up the sky at Times Square (via Tick Pic and NBA Central).

Kobe Bryant was more than just a basketball player; he was an inspiration.

Even NBA stars admitted that Kobe’s work ethic inspired them to be the best version of themselves and that one summer working out with him and getting to know his obsession with his craft when they teamed up to play in the Olympics was more than enough to turn multiple players’ careers around.

Dwyane Wade also admitted that watching Kobe win his fifth ring made him reach out to LeBron James to team up, knowing he was climbing the GOAT ladder at a drastic pace.

Some loved him, some will never acknowledge his greatness as one of the best two-way players to ever lace them up, but no one can disrespect him.
