During April each year, many fans and analysts put together mock drafts, trying to predict what will happen during the NFL Draft.
Thus far, many are projecting both the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans to take quarterbacks with the first two picks.
Despite this widespread belief, Peter Schrager warns of a potential shake-up, especially given recent history.
On a recent installment of Good Morning Football, Schrager said, “Last year, the Texans had the number three overall pick, and they took a corner.”
He also noted, “There is a sample size of Nick Caserio drafts, and it was two unexpected draft picks.”
Can you see a world in which the Texans don’t take a QB at #2?

The Texans’ third overall pick in 2022 went to Derek Stingley Jr, a highly touted cornerback prospect.
While Stingley was highly regarded, he wasn’t expected to be drafted that early.
Ahead of this year’s draft, Schrager suggests that the Texans could be in-line to make a shocking pick, given Caserio’s recent history.
Currently, the three quarterbacks on the Texans roster are Davis Mills, Case Keenum, and E.J. Perry.
Despite many projecting the Texans to draft a quarterback, they might feel confident in what they have on their roster.
Coming off of a 3-13-1 season in 2022, the Texans are likely looking for a complete re-tooling of their team.
Rebuilding with a rookie quarterback is a course of action that many teams have taken over the past several seasons.
Recently, the Jacksonville Jaguars were able to find success with Trevor Lawrence, turning around the organization in just two years.
Will the Texans aim to find a similar trajectory?
