The NFL Draft is where Super Bowl-winning teams are made.

Almost every great team needs exceptional quarterback play to thrive, especially in this day and age.

If you look down the list of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks, you’ll notice that most were first-round picks.

This begs the question: Why wouldn’t every quarterback-needy team select one in the first round?

According to James Palmer of NFL Network, nine of the 11 Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks to win the big game multiple times in the Common Draft era were first-round picks.

Why are first round quarterbacks analyzed and analyzed and over analyzed again in the first round?
– 9 of the 11 QBs drafted in the Common Draft era to start and win multiple Super Bowls were drafted in the 1st Round
– Only exceptions are Tom Brady (7 SB wins, drafted in 6th Rd)…

Of course, that fails to mention all of the first-round quarterbacks that turned into busts.

In this class, there are four or five quarterbacks that should be picked in the first round.

Not all of them are going to be good selections, and it all depends on how well the teams can develop each player.

We have seen plenty of moments where quarterbacks drafted after the first round have become outstanding players as well.

Tom Brady was a sixth-round pick, Russell Wilson was a third-rounder, Dak Prescott was a fourth-round pick, and Jalen Hurts was selected in the second round.

You can find elite quarterbacks after the first round, but it’s like finding a needle in a haystack.

Also, most quarterback-needy teams feel pressure from their fanbase to address those concerns earlier in the draft.

The first round of the draft can make or break the future of a lot of teams.

With that in mind, reaching to take a quarterback isn’t always the best move.

Teams that draft well on a year-to-year basis are consistently among the best in the league.

However, there are several outliers where a draft pick can turn a franchise around.

It will be fun to see which picks will make that kind of impact in 2023 and beyond.
