The Carolina Panthers have the potential to change their franchise for the next decade starting April 27.
They traded up to get the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and they’re heavily expected to go with Alabama’s Bryce Young.
That’s why NFL insider Ari Meirov wanted to set the record straight after a Redditor caused chaos online with a rather significant post.
Per the Redditor, Kentucky’s Will Levis is telling his friends and family that he’s going first overall to the Panthers, which led to plenty of people placing bets on him and making his odds go from +4000 to +400 at DraftKings.
Bryce Young is still widely expected to go No. 1 on Thursday night. But in the world we live in, a random Reddit could cause this much mayhem. It’s incredible. https://t.co/wlBxHFApPY

Meirov pointed out that Young is still a lock to be the first guy taken off the board but pointed out how much mayhem a single social media post can create on the eve of the NFL Draft.
This is yet another example of how big of a deal football is, especially for the sports gambling industry.
But it also proves that people will mostly believe every single thing they see online when it comes to the draft, and while some posts could be somewhat harmless like this, others could pretty much destroy a player’s reputation just for the sake of it.
Simply put, it’s highly unlikely that the Panthers traded up to get Levis, as they could’ve got him in their original slot.
But hey, at least oddsmakers will thicken their pockets a little more once the draft comes, as Levis breaks the hearts of those who actually thought he had a chance.
