In his first two NFL seasons, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields has been a relative disappointment.
Although he has become a huge threat in terms of moving the chains with his legs, he hasn’t been on the mark as a passer.
However, there are those who believe he is due for a huge coming-out party this season.
Put analyst Mike Clay down as one of those people, as he thinks Fields will do in 2023 what Philadelphia Eagles signal-caller Jalen Hurts did in 2022.

As has been the case with Fields, many doubted whether Hurts could be the quarterback of a winning NFL team, but he answered those doubts with 3,701 passing yards and 22 touchdown passes on a 66.5 completion percentage and a Super Bowl appearance last season.
So far in his career, Fields has completed only 59.7 percent of his pass attempts while throwing just 24 touchdown passes against 21 interceptions.
In his last two seasons of college football with Ohio State, on the other hand, he was a dynamo, combining for 63 touchdown passes while completing more than two-thirds of his passes.
While Hurts’ progression should give Bears fans hope for Fields, so does the career arc of the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen, who like Hurts and Fields, is a bigger dual-threat QB.
Allen was under a 60-percent completion rate in his first two pro seasons, but he improved to 69.2 percent in his third season while throwing for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns and earning his first Pro Bowl nod.
The Bears apparently believe so much in Fields that they turned down the opportunity to draft Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud with the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft and traded it to the Carolina Panthers for wide receiver D.J. Moore.
