The Houston Texans, who finished 3-13-1 last season, are looking to build a winning culture, and it looks like they have gotten off to a decent start this offseason.

They lured DeMeco Ryans from the San Francisco 49ers to be their new head coach, and they have brought in veteran wide receiver Robert Woods and a very solid tight end in Dalton Schultz.

Houston has the second pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and it is widely presumed that they will take a quarterback — either Bryce Young of the University of Alabama or Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud.

However, Lance Zierlein feels the team may draft a player at a different position if Young isn’t available at No. 2.

Many feel Young will be the first player chosen, due to his adept passing skills, mobility and instinctual feel for the game.

But there is a chance he falls to the Texans due to the concerns over the fact that he is no taller than six feet and weighs less than 200 pounds.

Last season, they had to make do with Davis Mills, Kyle Allen, and Jeff Driskel under center, none of whom could pass for Pro Bowl candidates.

The organization is one year removed from trading disgruntled star quarterback Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns, and it could use a very legitimate replacement for him.

But defense is a concern for the Texans — they finished 27th in points allowed and 30th in total yards allowed in 2022 — so perhaps they could go with edge rushers Will Anderson Jr. or Tyree Wilson at No. 2.
