We’re just a week away from the 2024 NFL Draft, which means the event is going to keep controlling the news cycle for a little longer.
There has been plenty of talk about this QB-heavy edition, and rightfully so, as some believe there could be as many as six quarterbacks taken in the first round alone.
Notably, that paves the way for this to be one of the most offense-heavy first rounds in NFL Draft history.
As pointed out by ESPN insider Adam Schefter, there has never been an NFL Draft with more than 19 offensive players picked in the first round, but that could change.
There never has been an NFL draft with more than 19 offensive players picked in the first round; that happened three times, most recently in 2009. But this draft is likely to set the record for most offensive players ever picked in round one.

That has only happened three times, with the 2009 edition being the most recent.
However, per Schefter and most big boards, this draft might set a new record.
That’s almost two thirds of the league choosing offensive players, which also speaks volumes about how much the game, the rules, and roster-building has changed throughout the course of the years.
Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, J.J. McCarthy, and maybe even Michael Penix Jr. are projected first-round QBs.
Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Udonze, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr., Adonai Mitchell, and Ladd McConkey are potential first-round WRs, with Brock Bowers as the potential first TE off the board.
