The New York Jets made one of the most impactful moves in franchise history.

Trading for Aaron Rodgers could have a huge long-term impact on the organization, as they hope he can lead them to their second Super Bowl win ever.

But, as you may know by now, trading for a multi-time MVP isn’t exactly cheap, and the Jets had to give up a lot in return for the former Green Bay Packers star.

That’s why Mike Florio wanted to put into context just how much of a big deal the Rodgers trade could be for the organization in the long run.

Hidden cost of the Aaron Rodgers trade — Jets lose out on a tackle they might have coveted, in Broderick Jones.

Florio stated that the Jets were quite fond of Georgia OT Broderick Jones and couldn’t get him because they traded their No. 13 pick to the Packers.

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up with the New England Patriots to acquire the promising offensive lineman, while the Jets moved down to No. 15.

GM Joe Douglas used that pick to get Iowa pass rusher Will McDonald IV instead.

Even so, Florio always seemed against the idea of trading for Rodgers, so maybe he’s blowing things out of proportion a little bit.

Yes, Jones has all the physical tools to become one of the best linesmen in the world, but it’s not like McDonald isn’t a good player by any means.

The Jets have put together a stacked roster on both sides of the field, and it’s evident that they’re trying to win right now, not just in the future.
