After spending his entire NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys up to this point, Ezekiel Elliott was shown the door by Jerry Jones and company this offseason, leaving the three-time Pro Bowler without a team deep into the free agency process.
Unfortunately for Elliott, the running back position isn’t exactly a hot commodity in the league right now, and to make matters worse, the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft is filled with talented running backs.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network recently went on The Pat McAfee Show and talked about Elliott and what the immediate future holds for the one-time All-Pro.

As Rapoport suggests, Elliott could wait until the draft is over and see what teams need to fill a void in the backfield, as his options at this point are limited, to say the least.
Although he remains unsigned and may have to wait until after the draft to get a call from an NFL team, it seems inevitable that he will get another job in the near future, as he can still produce on the football field even when sharing the backfield with Pro Bowler like Tony Pollard.
In 15 regular-season games with the Cowboys last season, Elliott scored 12 touchdowns with 968 yards from scrimmage.
Few players in the NFL today can put up those numbers, so it’s doubtful that a team with a need at the running back position will pass on Elliott, as long as his asking price isn’t astronomical.
So it’ll likely be only a matter of time before Elliott finds another NFL home.
