Before last season, the Philadelphia Eagles weren’t exactly sold on quarterback Jalen Hurts being the future face of the franchise.

Although he wasn’t terrible by any means in his first year as a starter in 2021, Hurts left something to be desired, leading to questions about whether he could lead the franchise moving forward.

Those questions came to an end very quickly during the 2022 campaign, as the Alabama/Oklahoma product led the Eagles to the Super Bowl in just his second year as the leader under center.

With an incredible season in the books for Hurts, the attention turns to his contract extension, with all signs continuing to point to Philadelphia making him a very rich man, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

During the 2022 NFL season, Hurts threw for 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while rushing for 760 yards and 13 touchdowns.

As a result of his stellar season, Hurts earned Pro Bowl honors for the first time in his career.

Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the Eagles saw quite a few players leave the team in NFL free agency, as they capitalized on the added exposure of a long playoff run and a Super Bowl appearance.

That said, there’s no telling whether the Eagles will be the same dominant force that lost four games during the 2022 campaign.

Despite the departure of some talented players, Philadelphia still has the quarterback position secured for the foreseeable future unless contract talks don’t go as planned or turn out as they have for Lamar Jackson with the Baltimore Ravens.
