This week, there has been a feeling that wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers has been quickly moving toward being shipped to another team.
He has been unhappy because he has wanted a contract extension of roughly $30 million per season, and after failing to get a deal done, he asked to be traded a few weeks ago.
The 49ers reportedly talked to at least three teams in recent days about a potential trade, but according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, they’re now “pushing to get a deal done that keeps Brandon Aiyuk in San Francisco for the long haul.”
So this is where things stand at the moment:

Though no resolution has been reached yet, this looks to be good news for Niners fans who have wanted Aiyuk to come to his senses and realize he has a good thing going with his current team.
In his four seasons in the NFL, he has helped them steadily improve offensively and be a consistent Super Bowl contender.
In 2020, Aiyuk’s rookie season, San Francisco missed the playoffs due to several key injuries, but since then, they have reached the NFC Championship Game each year.
Last season, they reached the Super Bowl, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in heartbreaking fashion in overtime.
If the Niners do wind up trading Aiyuk, it would be a safe bet that they wouldn’t remain championship contenders this season, although one can never know what they may get in return for him.
One scenario has him going to the Cleveland Browns for Amari Cooper, a veteran wide receiver who has made the Pro Bowl five times and could keep the Niners in contention for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
