The Cleveland Browns made a shocking quarterback move this offseason.
Most people assumed they would bring Joe Flacco back after the way he played for them in the final stretch of the regular season.
Instead, they decided to lean on Jameis Winston as their backup.
Some speculated that they didn’t want Flacco to be a distraction to Deshaun Watson, while others argued that he just was a better fit.
Whatever the case, it was somewhat surprising to hear reports about the Browns fielding calls for the former No. 1 pick ahead of the roster cuts.
With that in mind, Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report cleared the air on that matter, disputing the report and claiming that Winston was never on the trade block.

He adds that they will make another QB-related move, but it won’t involve Jameis Winston, meaning that they will likely move on from Tyler Huntley.
Winston is one of the best backup quarterbacks in the game, and he’s clearly made himself at home in Cleveland.
The players have rallied behind him and his leadership, and given Deshaun Watson’s history of injuries and struggles, it makes sense to keep him there as an insurance policy.
Needless to say, Kevin Stefanski hopes that they won’t need to turn to anybody else and Watson will finally have a good — and complete — season in Cleveland.
Still, it never hurts to err on the side of caution when it comes to quarterbacks.
