The Las Vegas Raiders have a fairly talented roster, but they fell well short of expectations last season, winning just six games and missing the playoffs.
Now, with training camp for the 2023 campaign on the horizon, they could be facing a very concerning situation involving one of their best players.
Running back Josh Jacobs, who received the Raiders’ franchise tag earlier this offseason, may hold out once the regular season starts if he doesn’t get the long-term contract he wants, according to Tom Pelissero, via Dov Kleiman.
Report: Josh Jacobs could holdout Week 1 of the 2023 Season, per @tompelissero

Jacobs, who will be entering his fifth season in the NFL in September, was a very solid tailback in his first three years in the league.
But in 2022, he reached a higher level, putting up a league-high 1,653 rushing yards, as well as 12 touchdowns, which earned him an All-Pro First-Team nod and his second Pro Bowl selection.
With Jacobs and Davante Adams, who is arguably the best wide receiver in the game, the Raiders were expected to be Super Bowl contenders last season.
Instead, they parted ways with quarterback Derek Carr and have replaced him with veteran Jimmy Garoppolo, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers.
Las Vegas blew several leads and lost many close games in 2022, which led to some fans calling for head coach Josh McDaniels to be fired.
But McDaniels is still at the helm, and the Raiders are looking to bounce back and at least make the playoffs.
To earn a trip to the NFL’s second season, Jacobs will have to be fully onboard and committed to the team.
