One of the most fascinating contract situations happening right now in the NFL is that of Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
Chase and the Bengals have been trying to agree to terms on a new extension that could keep the star pass-catcher in Cincinnati for years to come, but nothing has come to fruition just yet.
NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo recently gave his latest update on the situation today on Good Morning Football.
“There is a potential for a new deal…The sides continue to have discussions regarding an extension…Perhaps this is something we’re going to be watching on that Saturday before Week 1,” Garafolo said.

With Chase appearing to have returned to practice, it looks like the sides are progressing towards a major deal, especially with Garafolo now throwing a date out there of when fans and media members could possibly expect a new deal.
After all, Chase likely would not take the field if there were little to no contract talks taking place.
But with him back on the field, he can now focus on Week 1 while his representation can focus on putting the extension over the top.
If Chase does indeed get his major extension from the team that drafted him in the first round back in 2021, he is likely worth every penny.
Having made three consecutive Pro Bowls, the former national champion at LSU is one of the best receivers in the league.
He has recorded 80+ receptions and over 1,000 yards in every season so far, and he is coming off of his first 100-catch season.
