The NFL‘s “Cut-Down Day” is officially upon us.

August 29th marks the date on the calendar when teams are forced to cut down their rosters to 53.

This is a difficult day in the league, and teams need to utilize their scouting department and coaching staff to make their final decisions.

While this day sees many players getting cut, it could also be a day for a trade, according to Ian Rapoport.

Jonathan Taylor’s name continues to surface during conversations after his trade request from the Indianapolis Colts.

As Rapoport said on Good Morning Football, “I’m told there are at least two teams still interested with offers to the Indianapolis Colts.”

Rapoport named the Miami Dolphins as one team that is still interested, but the other remains to be seen.

While there is definite interest in Taylor, the focus has now been turned to Chris Ballard, the Colts general manager.

He will have to decide what is in the best interest of the organization, and whether Taylor is a part of their long-term plans.

Taylor is one of several elite running backs to find himself devalued during the offseason.

This is a growing trend across the league.

Teams have continued to extend quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends, leaving running backs in the dust.

There have been reports from the Colts’ camp that Taylor will not be extended, which remains to be seen.

Taylor’s situation is one to watch for as the roster cut deadline gets closer, especially given the current state of the position.
