Ahead of the 2024 NFL season, like any other season, analysts go all in on what to expect from the 32 teams and their stars, with tons of opinions about what they expect to happen and which players will succeed and fail.
Every year, teams and players move up and down various lists in terms of expectations, such as being the cream of the crop or the most overrated.
There are plenty of these takes circulating right now, and ESPN recently published a revealing article with Week 1 right around the corner and set to get underway on Sept. 5 with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Baltimore Ravens.
In the wide-ranging ESPN article, more than 100 NFL players were asked several questions about quarterbacks in the league, with some interesting answers about which of these leaders under center are the most overrated right now.
Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills came out on top with 11 votes, while Philadelphia Eagles star Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins tied for second with 10 votes each.
There’s no questioning Allen’s talent, as he can get it done through the air and on the ground, making him one of the more versatile quarterbacks in the league.
However, he hasn’t been able to do it in the NFL playoffs, which likely led to this overrated tag being given by players around the league.
Other notable quarterbacks who received votes for most overrated include Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers (9), Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars (8), Deshaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns (7), Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals (6) and Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers (6).
