NFL Star Could Be In Mix For Flag Football At Olympics

Things are changing when it comes to the Summer Olympics, as flag football has become an official sport for the 2028 Games, which makes things quite interesting in terms of what players might compete for the United States.

In the past, amateurs would compete in the Olympics in popular sports like basketball, which has now changed drastically ever since the 1992 Dream Team, which showcased some of the best players ever, like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

Now, professionals are regulars for Team USA basketball, with the team currently getting ready to put on a show during the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, with LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant leading the way.

It appears the same could happen for flag football, with Scott Hanson of NFL Network claiming that superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs could be among NFL players to compete in the Olympics if the league and its teams let that happen, via “The Rich Eisen Show.”

The NBA and its players have no problem competing on the international level as it has become something that the league has taken pride in as the best and brightest are eager to win a gold medal.

It’ll be interesting to see where flag football goes from here and if Mahomes and other stars of his caliber try to make a case to play on the international stage so they can add a gold medal to their trophy cases.
