Over the last few weeks, the San Francisco 49ers have been determined to get a new deal done with superstar defensive end Nick Bosa, who was hoping to become one of the highest-paid players in the league.

Although the process took much longer than expected, the 49ers and Bosa were finally able to come to terms on a lucrative long-term contract extension.

With Bosa officially signed to a new deal and the distraction avoided, the next order of business was whether the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year would be ready to play Week 1 on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fortunately for the 49ers, it looks like Bosa will be ready to get back to work on Sunday, but it came close to him missing Week 1 if the contract talks had been drawn out a little longer, according to Cam Inman of The Mercury News.

#49ers Nick Bosa on if missing Week 1 was possible:
“The closer it got, the more it seemed a possibility. I’m very appreciative of this organization for believing in me, and the York family for believing in me, and I want to thank them, and John Lynch and Kyle.”

The attention now turns to the Steelers and the 49ers trying to get their first win of the season on the road against a talented young team led by a second-year quarterback in Kenny Pickett.

With Bosa back in the fold for San Francisco, the 49ers are arguably one of the most balanced teams in the league, with a lot of talent on both sides of the football.

The 49ers are fully expected to be a legitimate Super Bowl title contender in the NFC, which is a conference that appears to be wide open, with only a handful of teams expected to be contenders in 2023.
