The Philadelphia 76ers went through a lot of change following the upset against the Boston Celtics in the 2023 Eastern Conference semifinals.

As a result, head coach Doc Rivers was let go by the team, and the organization failed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals even once.

Rivers was replaced by former Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse to become the team’s new leader for the 2023-24 season.

Nurse will bring a very different approach to the team when the upcoming season begins later in October.

The veteran coach shared his coaching mantra via the Philadelphia 76ers’ official Twitter.

“Expect to win,” Nurse said.

In simple terms, Nurse always wants his team to expect to win.

If they can do it, they will ultimately be good enough to win games.

A coach who believes in his players is exactly something that the 76ers need right now after failing to make a deep playoff run.

Joel Embiid has been the cornerstone player for the franchise for years now and he had plenty of help around him during that time.

But maybe a change in the head coaching department is what the Cameroonian star needs in his career.

Nurse previously led the Toronto Raptors to the 2019 NBA championship

The run included Kawhi Leonard’s famous series-clinching shot in Game 7 of the 2019 Eastern Conference semifinals against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Embiid will now hope to be on the other end of such a shot with Nurse trying to inject his coaching mantra into the 76ers.
