The Philadelphia Eagles made one of the most prominent moves of the offseason.

Signing Saquon Barkley was a huge deal within itself because they were luring him away from a divisional rival.

But more than that, adding that kind of explosive playmaker to the backfield was also a huge addition for Nick Sirianni’s team.

So, now that he’s had a chance to watch him get to work up close, Sal Paolantonio asked the Eagles’ coach to share his thoughts on his new running back (via NFL on ESPN).

“Great player, great leader, really enjoy having him on our football team.”

Sirianni raved about Barkley’s competitiveness and work ethic.

He praised him for being a great leader and pushing everybody’s boundaries with his competitiveness.

Barkley was a tailor-made fit for the Eagles.

Not only did they need a bell-cow kind of running back, but they also needed someone with a big chip on his shoulder; someone who was eager to prove the world wrong.

Barkley has every right to feel disrespected by the New York Giants.

Now, he’ll be a man on a mission, someone who will look to demonstrate his value with every single touch, and that’s just what Nick Sirianni’s team needed after a disappointing end to last season.

Like him, the Eagles will look to prove that they’re still one of the best teams in the league, and signing him was most definitely a huge step in that direction.
