After a poor showing at last summer’s FIBA World Cup, Team USA men’s basketball looks poised to bring the gold medal back home in the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Its roster looks outstanding, boasting incredible talents such as Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and thus many expect it to be successful in its quest for the gold.
There has been some talk about where this iteration of USA Basketball ranks historically, and Nick Wright said on “What’s Wright? with Nick Wright” that not only is this current group unbeatable, it is “the best collection of talent in Team USA history.”
“This is the best collection of talent in Team USA history. … They are unbeatable.”

For years, the 1992 Dream Team has been considered the best team in USA Basketball history and the greatest team ever put together in the history of the sport.
But as Wright pointed out, Larry Bird was a shell of his former self, while Magic Johnson had retired almost a year earlier after finding out he was HIV positive.
In addition, Isiah Thomas, one of the better point guards of all time, wasn’t on the Dream Team, presumably because several of its players didn’t want him on the roster.
Just about everyone on this iteration of Team USA is either in his prime or close to it, and it also has young and hungry stars such as Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton and Devin Booker who are looking to make a statement.
The rest of the world has become much more competitive in the sport of basketball, but Team USA still looks to be the best, and it would be a surprise if it doesn’t win the gold in Paris next month.
