The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions have a lot at stake on Saturday’s game, even if it doesn’t look like it.
These teams want to enter the postseason with some positive momentum, which is why Mike McCarthy’s squad simply cannot afford to lose a third game in a row.
Likewise, Dak Prescott needs to have a big game to re-enter the MVP conversation, especially now that there has been all that talk about his potential contract extension and him becoming the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Nick Wright believes tonight’s matchup between the Lions and Cowboys will be the perfect stage for Prescott to re-enter that conversation.
“Dak will be back in the MVP conversation, particularly if the Eagles slip up and the Cowboys end Week 17 as the 2-seed. I think Dallas wins big,” Wright said.

Talking on First Things First, the renowned pundit stated that as great as Aidan Hutchinson is, he believes the Cowboys will make a statement at home and win big again.
He also thinks the Philadelphia Eagles could continue their free-fall and slip when they face the Arizona Cardinals, which would lift the Cowboys to the No. 2 seed.
Wright argues that most MVPs have historically been either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed, and having Prescott shine in a stand-alone game and leading the Cowboys to an emphatic victory would be enough to get him back on top of the MVP race, depending on what happens between the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens.
This sounds like a lot of hypotheticals and ‘ifs,’ but we’ve seen that kind of thing and movie-like endings to a season happen way too many times before.
