Nick Wright Names The Best Team USA Player

LeBron James has been the face of the NBA for more than two decades now.

Even if he hasn’t always been the best player in the league and even though his record in the NBA Finals leaves a lot to be desired, the fact of the matter is that he’s been the most popular guy in the NBA for more than twenty years.

That’s why it’s so impressive to see that, despite his age, he continues to go strong and be a leader not only for the Los Angeles Lakers but also for Team USA.

Team USA has looked pretty mortal in it’s past two outings, and James has bailed them out twice with some impressive performances in the clutch.

With that in mind, sports analyst Nick Wright went as far as to call him the best player on Team USA, and the best American player when healthy (via ClutchPoints).

“Steph Curry calling him the closer… I think LeBron James is the best player on Team USA… Even at a shade under 40, 21 years in the league, I don’t think there’s a better American basketball player.”

Do you agree with Nick Wright?

Talking on FOX’s First Things First, Wright stated that it wasn’t a surprise to see his Team USA teammates choosing him as the best player on the roster, as there’s no better American player when healthy.

While he argued that one might choose another player over him throughout the course of a season because of health and age, he believes that a fully healthy LeBron playing in a short tournament like the Olympics is second to none.

This is an interesting argument, and he could definitely make a strong case for it.

Then again, the fact that Team USA has needed someone to bail them out should be a reason for concern ahead of the big tournament.
