Over the past few months, the contract negotiation process with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has been a nightmare for the San Francisco 49ers, as the two sides have been unable to see eye-to-eye on a new deal, leaving his future with the team in limbo.
Things have gone so poorly in these contract talks that Aiyuk has had enough and recently asked the team to trade him, which has led to a lot of speculation about where he might land before the upcoming 2024 NFL regular season if a trade comes to fruition.
Three teams have been rumored to be potential destinations for Aiyuk, with the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly interested in his services.
However, the Patriots recently dropped out because Aiyuk didn’t want to go through a rebuilding process with a rookie quarterback, but the Steelers and Browns might still be in play.
Nick Wright of FOX Sports believes that Aiyuk will eventually end up with the Steelers to play for head coach Mike Tomlin and give the team a consistent weapon downfield.
“I still think he’s going to Pittsburgh,” Wright said.

At this point in time, it seems as though either scenario is possible, as he could either stay in San Francisco or be traded to the Steelers or Browns in the coming weeks.
Only time will tell how things pan out for the 49ers, as this situation seems to get uglier and uglier with every passing day.
