On Monday night, the Los Angeles Lakers had a chance at redemption after dropping Game 1 of their first-round playoff series to the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena in the Mile High City.
The Lakers came into Game 2 in Denver highly motivated as the team got out to a quick start with superstar forward Anthony Davis putting on a show, hitting shot after shot after shot while being guarded by fellow superstar Nikola Jokic.
Los Angeles had it rolling so well that the team got out to a 20-point lead and seemed as though they were going to run away with the game and even the series at one game apiece.
Unfortunately for the Lakers, the Nuggets had no intention of backing down despite the long odds of pulling off the comeback, which Denver was able to do in the second half, resulting in a game-winning shot by Jamal Murray.
Although Murray hit the game-winning shot with time expiring in the fourth quarter, Nick Wright of FOX Sports believes Jokic has been the catalyst or “apex predator” for the Nuggets, via “First Things First.”
“The real reason they lost is because Denver employs the apex predator of the NBA — Nikola Jokic. He is that guy,” Wright said.

Jokic had another stellar performance for the Nuggets in Game 2, as he scored a team-high 27 points to go along with 20 rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals.
Murray may have gotten all the glory for hitting the biggest shot in the game, but Jokic was the reason they were able to get in position to win the game with time expiring.
