The Minnesota Timberwolves will face the Los Angeles Lakers in the Play-in Tournament on Tuesday, with the team’s season still alive and a playoff run not out of the realm of possibility.
However, the Timberwolves will limp into this game against LeBron James and company after one of the oddest endings to the regular season the league has seen.
Star center Rudy Gobert got into a physical altercation with teammate Kyle Anderson on the bench, which has led to the 30-year-old being suspended by the team for Tuesday’s game against the Lakers.
In the aftermath of this altercation and a disappointing season for Gobert, Nick Wright of Fox Sports argues that the trade to acquire the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year might be one of the worst in NBA history.

Things couldn’t have gone worse for the Timberwolves following the offseason trade to acquire Gobert from the Utah Jazz, which many believed was a bit ridiculous considering all the draft picks that went to Utah along with Walker Kessler.
Even before this altercation that shed light on how bad of a teammate Gobert can be, the blockbuster trade was already considered one of the worst in league history and may have gotten that much worse after this incident.
Along with being unable to see eye-to-eye with superstar Donovan Mitchell in Utah, Gobert was rumored to have rubbed D’Angelo Russell the wrong way in their short time playing together.
It seems increasingly apparent that Gobert is a tough player to get along with and may outstay his welcome in Minnesota as a result, especially if the team loses on Tuesday.
