The quarterback position in the NFL has changed significantly over the past several years.
Now that players like Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Ben Roethlisberger are out of the league, the pocket-passer era is mostly obsolete.
The new age of quarterback features a run-and-gun style, as players are now more mobile than ever before.
Players like Lamar Jackson, Justin Fields, and Kyler Murray have been highly regarded for arm talent and athleticism.
Josh Allen has also been highly regarded, which is a big reason for the Buffalo Bills‘ recent success.
In a recent segment of ‘What’s Wright?’ Nick Wright discusses Allen’s current standing in the league.
“Is Josh shaping up to be the Philip Rivers figure?” Wright asked.
Is Josh Allen shaping up to be the Philip Rivers figure in the new age Brady-Manning-Roethlisberger-Rivers storyline?

He made comparisons to other AFC quarterbacks, comparing Patrick Mahomes to a Tom Brady figure.
Wright also compared Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence to Peyton Manning figures, discussing how elite they have been thus far.
If Allen can take a few more steps forward, bringing the Bills to Super Bowls, will he live up to this Rivers-like potential?
Rivers is 6-foot-5, one of the tallest quarterbacks in the NFL over the past 20 years.
Allen not only has a similar play style, but he is also a similar build.
He is the same height as Rivers and has been profiled as a more athletic, more prolific rusher than Rivers.
Can Allen do what Rivers was never able to, winning a Super Bowl before his career is over?
He’s tied to the Bills for the foreseeable future and will have several opportunities to do so.
