After months of speculation and uncertainty, the Miami Dolphins finally decided to give superstar quarterback Tua Tagovailoa the respect he deserves with a lucrative long-term contract extension.
Recently, the Dolphins took care of star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle with a long-term deal, which led many to believe that Tagovailoa and superstar wideout Tyreek Hill would get new contracts of their own.
Despite a lot of back and forth between the two sides and some speculating that there could be quite a distraction ahead if the up-and-comer isn’t inked to a new deal, Miami got it done with a four-year deal worth $212 million, which doesn’t make him the highest-paid quarterback annually, but now he’s in the top three in that category with Joe Burrow and Trevor Lawrence.
Although this seems like a step in the right direction, as long as Hill is the next in line in Miami, the Dolphins are already getting criticized for the move by Nick Wright of FOX Sports, who thinks it was a mistake via First Things First.
“I think it’s a mistake. I’ve graded Mike McDaniel on a curve. He now, seemingly, has signed off on Tua being a force multiplier. The curve has now been removed. There’s a ceiling on their team with him as the QB,” Wright said.

Since the arrival of head coach Mike McDaniel and his two top stars on offense in Tagovailoa and Hill, the Dolphins have been trending up and paving their way to Super Bowl title contender status in the AFC.
Despite falling short to the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL playoffs last year, Miami will be a team to watch in the conference moving forward, as the team has the talent to take it to another level, even though Wright thinks the franchise has hit its ceiling.
